Title: Love Irresistibly
Series: FBI/US Attorney #4
Author: Julie James
Publisher: Berkley Sensation
Rating: 4/5
Summary:
HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…
A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.
AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.
A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . .(Goodreads)
My review:
What
I like most about Julie James' books is that they are quick and fluffy
reads that are just perfect to get out of book slumps. And with the book
I was reading before this one, I was definitely getting into a huge
book slump. So I decided to read something sweet and easy. And I thought
about this series that I started a while ago and liked a lot.
I
liked the characters in this book. Cade has his background and his life
besides the romance and the same goes with Brooke. This book has
nothing complex or anything. It's a fluffy, quite funny, easy romance.
But the characters are more real than in some book of the same genre.
Both have their own backstories and have their own traits. The bickering
between Cade and Brooke is funny and even if it's quite cliché to have
the romance characters bicker, it's always a good fun.
Brooke
is so independent and badass that I couldn't help to like her. Cade has
his soft spots that make him less perfect and idealistic and make him
more likeable. The way Julie James wrote her two main characters makes
us care for them, want them to be happy and all. She managed to make
them so great with their strength, weaknesses and armor that you can't
help but care for them which makes the book even better.
I love Julie James' books. Seriously. And they seem to
always get better and better. They are fluffy as heck but they are so
quick to read and funny and sweet with great characters... I love them.
And I can't wait to read the next books that will come out!
